Opened in August 2024, UAB Medical West Hospital replaces a 1960s facility with a modern, experience-centered healthcare environment that blends advanced care with the warmth of Southern hospitality. Set within wetlands, pine trees, and walking trails, the new campus offers a restorative, nature-connected setting for patients, families, and staff.

Led by HKS, Inc., with local design partner KPS Group, Inc., the interiors draw inspiration from native Alabama flora. Each floor features a distinct botanical theme—using calming color palettes, organic forms, and biophilic details to support intuitive wayfinding and a more human healthcare experience.

Momentum materials were integrated across patient, clinical, and public spaces to support durability, comfort, and visual continuity:

- ER & Patient Room Headwalls: P3TEC Infinity in soft pastels creates a seamless, serene backdrop.

- Prep & Recovery Areas: P3TEC Infinity in Lilac Breeze reinforces a restorative clinical environment.

- Medical Office Building (MOB): P3TEC Coastal Grass and P3TEC Bevel introduce organic texture.

- Museum Entries & Patient Room Corridors: P3TEC Coastal Grass brings warmth between spaces.

- Privacy Curtains: Dogwood Leaves echoes the project’s botanical storytelling.

- Seating: A mix of Clean Vinyl and PVC-free coated upholstery ensures durability and design cohesion.

Together, these materials shape a health and wellness space that feels grounded, welcoming, and distinctly place-based.
