The Children’s Advocacy Center of Collin County (CACCC) in McKinney, Texas serves as a vital resource for abused and neglected children, providing a safe environment where victims of trauma can find support and healing. At the newly opened Speese Campus, CACCC’s goal was clear: create a trauma-informed space that balances emotional comfort with the privacy needed for sensitive conversations.
Pindrop™ acoustic solutions played a pivotal role in achieving this mission, addressing technical sound transfer challenges with thoughtful, trauma-informed design principles. Installed in a single weekend by volunteers, these panels and pieces collectively create a serene environment that calms the senses.
"Many people associate bright colors and lively patterns as inviting to children, but in this context, those design features can feel overwhelming. A trauma-informed space should create calm with soft, muted colors and simple patterns, offering comfort and order to children in distress." - Tracy Avery, CACCC's Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) Coordinator
