Unveiling Circon™
The First Bio-Sourced, Carbon-Neutral, Climate-Forward Wallcovering
In the material world, achieving the perfect balance between aesthetics, sustainability, durability, and affordability can be elusive. Enter Circon: not just sustainable, but beautiful, cost-effective, and a trailblazing classification of eco-conscious vinyl that redefines interiors and positively impacts the planet.
While we previewed Circon to the architecture and design community at NeoCon 2024 in Chicago, where it won multiple awards for sustainable innovation in wallcoverings, we’re excited to share why it’s so unique. Read on to discover the groundbreaking technology behind Circon, its environmental benefits, our easy ordering process, and an overview of our new Circon patterns.
Circon™: A Breakthrough in Sustainable Wallcovering
The goal of Circon was clear from the beginning: to create a durable, sustainable wallcovering at an affordable price point. This meant rethinking the production process—specifically, replacing the fossil fuels typically used in conventional vinyl with renewable alternatives. The solution? Bio-mass alternatives. The goal of replacing fossil fuel with a bio-mass alternative is to create a product with a more sustainable loop.
Named for its rapidly renewable technology (and circularity), Circon is a brand-new solution in sustainable design—a bio-sourced, carbon-neutral, fully recyclable Type II vinyl wallcovering that delivers the same price and performance as conventional vinyl while significantly reducing its environmental footprint. This patent-pending innovation, developed in partnership with Versa Designed Surfaces, incorporates over 70% bio-based, rapidly renewable materials and is available exclusively through Momentum.
These bio-sourced components include:
100% renewable wood-based feedstock from FSC-certified sustainable forestry, replacing fossil fuel-based vinyl polymers.
Algae-like base material, used as a filler, captures carbon during its formation, contributing to reduced emissions.
A proprietary bio-based backing that is 100% renewable and actively sequesters carbon during its growth, creating a closed-loop system
Altogether, Circon's bio-sourced components are engineered to reduce fossil fuel reliance and minimize carbon emissions. By selecting feedstock with high carbon capture rates and using renewable resources, Circon offsets the fossil fuels typically used in the manufacturing of conventional vinyl. Its durable, renewable design—optimized through extensive R&D—leads to a significantly lower carbon footprint, serving as a bridge toward reduced emissions and a more sustainable future.

How to Order Circon
Today, this new category of wallcovering substrate can be specified for any of the 100+ designs in our Versa Collections. Furthermore, Circon wallcovering can also be specified as the substrate for our Digital Creations collection, providing specifiers with the option of using Momentum’s curated designs, artist collaborations like British-Nigerian multi-disciplinary artist Yinka Ilori, or their own custom designs and artwork.
In addition to Versa or digital substrate orders, our first (and Momentum-exclusive) Circon collection is here—featuring four understated yet impactful patterns that reflect nature's peaceful coexistence, with sustainability woven throughout every layer.
Circon is only a piece of the cohesive fabric of our commitment to redefining sustainable wallcovering and textile solutions. With current offerings like PVC-Free coated textiles and wallcoverings including EPU and Silica, our PVC-Free wallcoverings and wall protection and commitment to rapidly renewable and recycled yarns in our woven textiles, we continuously blend artistic vision with ecological integrity to propel commercial spaces forward. Stay tuned for exclusive patterns and upcoming developments as we continue working alongside our VP of Sustainability, Julia Gillespie, and partners like Versa Designed Surfaces on our "In the Moment" news page.
